Message of the Presidents

Beder International University was founded in 2013 as a communal, non-for-profit university. Since its establishment Beder International University (BIU) pursued its core mission of harmonious coexistence within the global community by promoting original and creative research, creating new intellectual values, and fostering capable human resources that can generate such new values. In its pursuit of that mission, the university has made significant achievements as one of Somaliland’s leading research-oriented universities. These achievements are confirmed by the fact that Beder University has produced well-educated scholars who play an important role within the community. The university has been exploring new areas for development since it is ranked the leading 1st University in Somaliland.

The university’s vicinity hosts approximately 1700 students including undergraduate and postgraduate. The permanent and temporary staffs exceeds 80 members. The university promotes the creation of an active atmosphere and unique form of self-learning on which both the staff and students could pioneer their creativity and scientific knowledge.

Diversity and inclusion are fundamental not only in the creation of academic knowledge but also in human resource development and partnering with society. To promote this Beder International University is the Only University in Somaliland that teaches people with disabilities free of cost, as it is among the leading regional universities that teach PWD.

2023 marked the 10th anniversary of the university and it was not coincidence that with continued determination of knowledge production it was ranked the 1st among Somaliland national Universities and the Somaliland National Higher Education Commission expressed their utmost satisfaction of the university’s role in national development and knowledge production.

By linking past experience with prospective achievements, we will continue to keep our utmost efforts to provide new intellectual values and cultivate outstanding human resources in order to benefit society.
